Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2025-2031, Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2024

Pretty red fruits, cedary spice, and dried flower notes all emerge from the 2021 Château Maucaillou, a medium-bodied, mid-weight, charming Moulis that has firmer yet moderate tannins and a nicely textured, mid-weight style that will keep through 2031. Give bottles a year or two.

The 2021 Maucaillou has dispensed with that airy nose, yet it has commendable delineation with slightly tertiary black fruit mixed with tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well-balanced if not complex with a light cedar finish. Fine. A second bottle actually demonstrates more personality on the finish than the first.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2024-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2024

The 2021 Maucaillou is soft, plummy and very easy to like. Succulent dark cherry, chocolate, mint and new leather all meld together in a seamless, juicy Moulis that is ready to give pleasure. Bright acids resonate on the persistent finish.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2024

The 2021 Maucaillou offers a very creditable showing in bottle, exhibiting aromas of cassis, sweet soil tones and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy palate with bright acids and soft, powdery tannins. This is impressive for the vintage.
