Lastly, the 2020 Côte Rôtie Les Grandes Places is more expressive aromatically yet clamps down firmly on the palate and reminds you it's built for the long haul. Beautiful red and black fruits, spice, graphite, dusty minerality, and some leathery notes all define the aromatics, and this medium to full-bodied, structured, tannic, yet balanced beauty needs to be hidden in the back of the cellar. I suspect it should start to hit the early stages of its drink window in 6-7 years and will evolve nicely over the following two decades.

Pichat's dark-fruited, olive-laden 2020 Cote Rotie Les Grandes Places shows excellent presence on its medium to full-bodied palate. It's concentrated and richly textured, with a velvety feel lingering on the finish. Despite being aged in 100% new oak barrels of 400 liters, the wood isn't obtrusive at all. Impressive.
