2018 Arbois Trousseau Marne Rouge Cuvee des Geologues

I also tasted the 2018 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Marne Rouge, which was produced with grapes from a 40-year-old vineyard on red marl soils from Trias. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak foudre until bottling in July 2020. It's fruit driven and not terribly complex, quite primary and undeveloped but without the complexity of other reds I tasted in the same sitting. It's ripe and juicy and has polished tannins and a soft mouthfeel. A gentle Trousseau.
