The 2019 Arbois Cuvée des Docteurs Melon à Queue Rouge is much more evolved than the 2020. Giving the glass a gentle swirl unlocks dusty lemon peel, baked apple, dried flowers and a dollop of honey. Hitting the palate with full-throttle concentration and generosity, the 2019 remains flawlessly balanced through lively acidity. There’s a touch of heat on the expansive finish, suggesting the alcohol could have been integrated better. Nonetheless, I really enjoy the 2019. Drink now.
