Note di degustazione
The 2020 Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling Cuvée Ste. Catherine is deep, pure and intense on the nose, but at the same time, it's so charmingly elegant and fruity that it's really irresistible. Tropical fruit aromas are more discreet here than in the regular Schlossberg, and the complexity with iodine, mineral aromas is revealed only on the second and third nose. On the palate, this is a stimulating, pure, fresh and playful, salty or sappy Cuvée Ste Catherine that has great finesse and charm but perhaps less tannin tension than the 2019. The finish is very mineral, though, so I can't name a favorite, even though the two vintages are very different.

Full bottle 1,350 g. Certified biodynamic. Sleeker, fresher, more obviously mineral on the nose than the regular Riesling 2020 from this address with a richness underpinning it as well as strong acidity and a certain stony grip on the finish. You could drink this now but it might be a bit of a waste. More sensible to wait until its full complexity reveals itself. It's still very tight-knit. Just a few floral aromas creeping in on the finish at the moment. This is clearly quite a majestic wine. Very long. (JR)
Full bottle 1,357 g. Their celebrated Schlossberg cuvée. Pure, pungent, steely, Riesling nose that's perhaps a bit more developed and lightly oily than in a cooler year. It expresses pure, bone-dry Riesling fruit. A tightly-coiled spring promising great depth and development over the coming years. So embryonic but with a dry, long, chalky-textured finish. My kind of wine! (JR)
