Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2021-2028, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2024

78% Pinot Noir, 22% Chardonnay from this superior vineyard in West Sussex. A warm start to the year saw a slightly earlier budburst than average. Fine and warm weather continued through to July, with good and timely flowering and fruit set. A cooler August followed, slightly delaying veraison, but a warm September led to gradual ripening before a harvest which began in the first week of October. Overall, warm, fine conditions. Disgorged September 2020 with total RS 8.5 g/l. Quite a mature nose but great freshness and verve on the palate which it leaves clean. Quite a substantial, complex wine with an attractively savoury note and a beginning, middle and end. Hits the throat!  (JR)

Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2022-2029, Jancis Robinson MW, Mar 2022

The fourth vintage of this wine since its first release (of the 2009 vintage) in 2013 from one of Nyetimber's West Sussex vineyards that is especially prized for its Pinot Noir. So it's predominantly Pinot Noir, blended with about 25% Chardonnay grown in the same vineyard. Other vintages have been 2010 and 2013. Really meaty-yet-bracing nose opens out to more richness of a brioche-like sort. The acidity is so high that it tastes absolutely bone dry although there is probably quite a bit of dosage to judge from the tech spec for the 2013. Good definition – no mistaking this for champagne! Good, clean, long finish. Still youthful. Clearly very precisely made and there's no hurry at all to drink it but I'm afraid I wouldn't pay £100 for it. (Their Classic Cuvée is so good…) (JR)
