The 2020 Juffer Sonnenuhr GG is excitingly clear, fresh and precise on the nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is an intense and tensioned, finely grippy, long and salty JSU whose energy, precision and freshness is outstanding. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2021.

A generous expression of peach and citrus fruit aromas is accompanied by a subtle herbal notion reflecting the action of natural yeast. The flavour opens with a sweet flicker of ripe fruit before a rock-solid minerality, with nuances of graphite and quinine, takes charge of the flavour. A third dimension is added by an almost medicinal expression of spices. (MS)
In spite of the very solid base of tannins and minerals, plus serious concentration, this remains so graceful and light-footed. Still very young and slightly yeasty from sur-lie aging. However, there are already so many delicate floral and herbal nuances, plus a hint of vanilla bean. Drinkable now, but best from 2022.
