The 2018 Malbec Cobos is a blend of grapes from Los Arboles, Perdriel and Villa Bastías that spent 18 months in 63% new barrels. A dense, purplish red in the glass, the intense, extremely nuanced nose offers notes of rose, cherry, plum, herbs, lavender, lemon zest and graphite along with an odd whiff of stems. Potent and concentrated but in a relaxed, juicy way, it’s alluringly oxymoronic: muscular but compact, very juicy and long-lasting, but with the grace of the top ethereal wines
