The Macallan M Black is exceptionally rare and highly collectable. The whisky has been drawn from black-ended casks slumbering deep within the historic producer’s enviable Highland warehouses. The smoke-infused peated spirit has been bottled in a striking black decanter, handcrafted by world-renowned crystal makers Lalique. The resulting liquid is lightly peated with the characteristic raisin notes imparted from time spent in Macallan’s high-quality Sherry-seasoned casks. Each Macallan M Black decanter is individually numbered, and available in extremely limited quantities.

This 2017 release includes spirit from three sherry-seasoned hogsheads and three butts, some of which had previously held a peated whisky. The nose offers familiar dark chocolate, dried fruit, sultanas, and ripe cherry notes, with a whiff of woodsmoke. More dried fruits on the rich palate, with coffee grounds, ginger, and sherry merging with subtle peat. The finish is luxurious, with smoky raisins and pleasing wood spice. (40 bottles for U.S.)
