Note di degustazione
David Duband is one of the Burgundy’s most exciting producers. To allow more people to discover this young vigneron’s talents, we have compiled a mixed case of two of their top village wines – containing three bottles (75cl) each of Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuit-Saint-Georges. Duband’s Nuits-Saint-Georges vines are 50 years old on average, producing a village Nuits with great intensity. The result is a very bright, fresh and sappy Nuits-Saint-Georges with light, lifted, floral tones. On the palate, there’s crunchy, raspberry and red cherry fruit, loads of acidity and a lovely clarity to the fresh fruit tones that sustain the long finish. A touch of oak spice adds complexity. The Gevrey-Chambertin comes from some of David’s oldest vines – averaging 70 years in age. Their deep roots were an advantage in 2020’s dry conditions, and the resulting wine is unsurprisingly concentrated. It is however far from rustic – but bright and vibrant, with the village’s typical structure. It’s deliciously dark-fruited but with a chalky freshness and crunchy, cranberry lift on the palate. Lively and charming, with a line of minerality, this is moreish Gevrey.
