The Passion is Donatsch’s Premier Cru equivalent. The Chardonnay is fermented and aged in 30% new oak, producing an elegant style, very much influenced by Burgundy.

Light nose and creamy texture with good fruit/acid balance and just a hint of sweet oak. Great life to this. Well done! (JR)
The 2020 Chardonnay Passion shows a noble, refined and mineral-scented, still reductive and somewhat oaky bouquet of clear, ripe and elegant tropical fruit aromas intertwined with some flinty notes of crushed stones. Finessed and stimulatingly salty on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, dense and elegant yet pure and wonderfully tensioned Chardonnay that was entirely vinified in oak barrels and reveals a long and intense finish with fine tannins and a deep, mineral soul. Still a bit too young and nervous, but the potential is remarkable. 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in January 2022.
