Cassis, raspberries and dark chocolate come together to create harmony and complexity on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard. This vineyard, on the eastern edge of the Oakville AVA, has yielded a wine that's full-bodied and maybe just a touch warm, but concentrated, velvety-textured and long. Already approachable, it may not be as long lived as some of Carter's other bottlings, but it's still a gorgeous wine to drink over the next 15 years or so.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard is a huge, powerful wine. Soaring aromatics and deep fruit make a strong first impression. The Weitz is a bit unruly, and it needs time to come together, but Cabernets from this sector of Oakville often need time. Bright acids and beams of tannin lend energy to this potent, hillside Cabernet.
More pure cassis, graphite, chalky minerality, and tobacco leaf notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard, a rich, concentrated, beautifully balanced yet powerful Cabernet from this estate. I love its purity of fruit, and it has nicely integrated acidity, plenty of tannins, and outstanding length. It's a serious, impressive 2019 that deserves 3-4 years of bottle age and will have 20-25 years of overall longevity.
