Punteggio 89+/100 · Da bere 2018-2023, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jul 2017

Bright ruby-red. Expressive aromas of dark berries, licorice and mocha. At once plush and nicely focused, conveying noteworthy intensity to its dark berry and licorice flavors. A bit youthfully powerful at 14.5% alcohol, even aggressive. The slightly drying tannins call for a bit of patience. This wine is dominated by its spine today; it will merit a 90-point rating if it softens and blossoms with time in the bottle.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2016-2019, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

Tasting multiple vintages of the same wine side by side is the best way to see the differences, so having this 2014 Clos de los Siete next to the 2013 confirms that the vintage was riper and warmer. The fruit tends more towards the black/darker/riper side of the spectrum and there are some heady and earthy notes, without the purity of the 2013. Having said that, the palate is soft and caressing, with fine-grained tannins, more in need of food than the previous year. The varietal breakup in this occasion was 54% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 3 % Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. 800,000 bottles produced.
