Note di degustazione
The 2019 White Blend is made from Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Viognier. The nose is dominated by aromas from the Chenin Blanc and Verdelho, with notions of wax melon, yellow apple and sweet citrus and a fine, dusty essence. Medium-bodied, the palate shows a delightful mineral tension followed by flavors of marshmallow, sautéed almonds and sweet citrus across the mid-palate. It’s a delightful wine that’s slightly cerebral but will perform better with food.

The 2019 White, a blend of Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Viognier, has a lovely, beautifully defined bouquet of yellow plum, jasmine and white flowers. The palate is quite tangy on the entry, with a slither of Seville orange marmalade mixed with an underlying saltiness that drives the finish forward. Great tension and freshness. This is a killer white blend from Donovan Rall. Superb.
8,355 'naturally fermented' bottles produced. No origin (appellation) on the bottle I tasted but previous vintages have been a blend of Swartland and Helderberg fruit – and a blend of varieties. Typically Chenin, Verdelho and a little Viognier. Pale gold. Complex nose with seriously fresh acidity and a nose that really could be described as a bouquet of floral aromas. Plus the tang of true, old-vine Chenin Blanc and the promise of a long life. Seems underpriced for the probity of intention and promise of ageability. It would seem a shame to drink this before 2021 and possibly even before 2022. Some fashionable light bitterness on the end. (JR)
