2018 Cotes de Nuits Villages La Rue des Foins

Mid cherry red. Like the regular Côte de Nuits-Villages, sweetness of fruit and vanilla on the nose. But a little riper and more herbal (stemmy?) at the same time, thus more complex. That stemmy character becoming more notable with air – in a good way if you like this style (I do). Tannins smooth like chocolate, easy, just enough freshness thanks to the whole-bunch component, it seems. (JH)
