Deep black fruit and slate smoke set the stage for a phenomenal Pinot experience. Opulent fruit and herbal nuance are structured within the elegant tannin web; tremendous mineral momentum and an unforgettable spicy finish. (PS)

Mid crimson. This smells both richer and riper than the Neuenahrer Sonnenberg 2018. But still deliciously scented with red fruits as well as that oak sweetness. A very slight herbal note on the finish but juicy and tannins so silky already. Very approachable even though it should have a long life. Elegant and long, delicate but with an intensity at its core, the fruit polished by the winemaking. The tannins become a little more chewy on second tasting but they are beautifully handled. (JH)

The 2018 Herrenberg Spätburgunder GG is refined and fresh on the nose, with intense and juicy fruit and some new oak notes. On the palate, this is a warm, rich and intense yet vital Pinot with remarkable finesse and elegance. Tasted at the domain in August 2020.

Pale-medium cherry red with watery-pink rim. The fragrance is quite pronounced, with aromas of cherry and plum contributing fruit while notes of marzipan and exotic spice bring in their seductive qualities. Rich and juicy start on the palate with marinated fruit. There’s plenty of substance and viscosity, well balanced by animating acidity. Subtle smoky and spicy nuances enhance the finish. (MS)
