The 2019 Ried Kellerberg Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is pure, deep and flinty on the coolish and herbal nose that reveals perfectly ripe and spicy fruit. Full-bodied yet filigreed and refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, round, intense and persistently salty Kellerberg with a long, intense and stimulating salty finish. Rich and concentrated but always refined and with refreshing mineral vitality. 13.5% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in June 2021.

Enormously deep and powerful, yet so pure. The austere mineral character of the almost endless finish reminds me very much of great dry riesling. Such mouthwatering freshness and such stunning, youthful, white-fruit aromas. Drink or hold.
