AP number 59 20. Again there is a slightly strange sweetness on the nose. More disjointed on the palate than the Ölberg. Perhaps it will come together, but for the moment it’s a bit raw. (JR)

Considerable funk at first, but also a lot of fresh pineapple and wild herbs. A concentrated and powerful wine that remains sleek and cool, this has a very exciting finish with laser-beam focus. That suggests to me that it will shine, if you can wait just a little. Better after 2021.
The 2019 Nierstein Pettenthal Riesling GG is deep and complex yet discreet on the elegant, noble, crystalline nose. Cristal clear, elegant and vibrantly fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied and intense yet pure and tensioned Pettenthal with a tight structure, lingering grip and salinity and a very long, intense finish. This Pettenthal is impressive already as a sample. Tasted in April 2020. Release date: September.
