Note di degustazione
The 2016 Riesling Kabinett "SL" is clear, fine and flinty on the lovely reductive nose. Light to medium-bodied, juicy, piquant and very salty, this is a classic Mosel Kabinett from excellent slate vineyards and partly pretty old vines around the domaine. Excellent and with good aging potential. Tasted March 2018.

Sourced this year from Lieser Schlossberg (well back from the Mosel shore) and Kestener Paulinshofberg (a superb site, but one Haag does not intend to showcase), this generic Kabinett is finished with around 40 grams of residual sugar, well less than that harbored by the corresponding site-specific bottlings. Apple and honeydew melon are mingled on the nose with hints of celery stalk, and that trio makes for a generously juicy, suggestively cooling, mouthwateringly saline impression on a polished palate. This finishes with subtly bitter notes of melon rind and apple seeds lending invigoration to a tangy, refreshing finish of surprisingly and delightfully understated sweetness.
A little bit smokily reductive, attractively so. Mouth-watering purity of lemon and clementine fruit flavours, so precise in their fresh intensity. Great length too. VGV (JH)
