This auctioned bottling represents a single fuder from mid-elevation holdings (where the corresponding and much larger lot registered as A.P. #3 issued from low down on that slope). Scents and luscious abundance of ripe Persian melon and peach are augmented by contrasting green herbal essences and musky, peony-like perfume. The soothing, buoyant midpalate features flattering inner-mouth perfume, leading to a delightfully floral, inhalative and subtly stone-lined, albeit still fruit- and sweetness-dominated finish.

Mealy, savory aromas of pastry and beeswax. The palate has a pastry-like feel with apples and pears. Drink now.
From 40-year-old vines in the central part of the cru and picked at 90° Oechsle, the 2018 Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett (Versteigerung) is complex and fine at the same time, offering deep and flinty notes of crushed rocks, herbs and lemons. Very tonic! The palate is intense and very mineral, with lots of salt, grip and tension, conquering the whole palate and finishing with great tension and mouthwatering salinity. This is a great wine whose sweetness will be integrated in 10-15 years. Tasted from AP 29 19 on June 2019.
Richer than the Hütte Kabinett with sculpted fruit. Quite electric. Long and perhaps not massive finesse but very precise. Well done! (JR)
