Note di degustazione
Aged in one Stockinger 1,800-litre cask for five years. First vintage of this style was 2015. Beautifully developed fruit character that has a dried, preserved note: orange peel, lemon zest. Smoked spices on the finish, this is maturing with great promise. Long, intense fruit with an umami richness that reminds me of great old white bordeaux. (RH)

The 2018 Ried Achleiten Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is flinty and coolish on the shy but mysterious and very spicy, concentrated and precise nose, with its delicate legume aromas. Lush and elegant on the refined and balanced but also tensioned palate, this is a firm and concentrated, lush and aromatic Veltliner with a linear course on the palate. The finish is crunchy and firm, a tiny bit dry or phenolic, asking for another three years of bottle aging. Tasted at the domain in September 2019.
RS 2.3 g/l, TA 6.9 g/l. Some slightly green notes. Lots to chew on. A tad hard at the moment. I’d rather drink the Federspiel! (JR)
