2005 Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos

(10% alcohol; 158 g/l r.s.; 9.8% g/l acidity): Bright yellow-gold. Slightly advanced aromas of apricot, toffee, mocha and walnut. Offers an intriguing combination of lively mandarin orange acidity and nutty oak elements (this spent at least three years in new barriques), but comes across as somewhat disjointed today. Finishes with sneaky length but a slight dry edge.
