Hints of cut grass and green onion accent ripe tropical fruit on the nose of Cloudy Bay's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc. Intense guava and passion fruit flavors suffuse the medium-bodied palate, underscored by attractive notes of white grapefruit, but this vintage of a New Zealand classic comes across as slightly lacking in texture and length.

Cloudy Bay's Jim White assures us that 2019 was a great Marlborough vintage. All of 80 parcels of wine went into this ubiquitous blend. Pretty powerful nose with a little more nuance than some vintages I can remember. It has the sort of texture that makes me wonder whether some portions didn't see a little oak. I could drink this! Plenty of tropical fruit and a grassy edge, too. This has so much fruit character and delivers mangoes and limes in abundance on the palate. Drink now. Screw cap.
