Punteggio 18/20 · Da bere 2023-2028, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Nov 2023

45% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir, 11% Pinot Meunier grown on greensand soils. Winemaker Cherie Spriggs. Long lees-ageing. Bottled 9 May 2011, riddled 9 January 2020, disgorged 10 January 2020 (all these dates are found on the Nyetimber website if you use the lot number on the back label). TA 7.8 g/l, pH 3.01, RS 9.7 g/l. Seductively rich and honeyed on the nose, like honey on toast, with marked aromas of brioche and roasted nuts. Searingly fresh acidity is perfected balanced by those rich, mature flavours and the feeling of depth and richness in the mouth even though it tastes dry thanks to its perfect balance and the still-lively and fine mousse. Incredibly long. A meal in itself and so full of flavour and harmony that it demands to be sipped very slowly. Stunning in its complexity and the balance between mouth-watering freshness and honeyed complexity. (JH)

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2021-2035, Neal Martin, Sep 2021

The 2010 Nyetimber 1086 was bottled May 2011 and disgorged in February 2019, representing the current release. It has a clean and fresh bouquet, not quite as complex as the 2009, but I appreciate the wet stone and dewy green apple note. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, cohesive and focused, almost Blanc de Blancs in style due to the very expressive Chardonnay. Excellent length here. A wine that I suspect will improve with further bottle age.

45% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir, 11% Pinot Meunier. TA 7.8 g/l, pH 3.01, RS 9.7 g/l. This is the ambitious cuvée made from the best of the best of what are now 90 parcels in 10 vineyards totalling 280 ha, although this particular blend was all West Sussex and a very similar make-up to the 2009 launch vintage. Seven years on lees and nine months post disgorgement. The back label has a lot code which is explained on their website. 12,000 bottles made. Tasted blind. Light nose and very well-mannered palate. Everything in its place. Not too tart and with real interest. Complete. I actually thought this could be champagne. (JR)

Seven years on lees and nine months post disgorgement. The back label has a lot code which is explained on their website. 12,000 bottles made. Texture is very important to winemakers Cherie and Brad and they certainly have achieved their 'seamless' aim. Nose rather white burgundian with savour and introspection. Not the most flattering or welcoming for now. Cherie gets grapefruit, nougat and vanilla on the end. Pretty cool and crisp. I'd guess this will improve in bottle and lose some of its angularity. 2013 will be the next vintage so this cuvée will have to last quite a time, which may be a good thing in view of its current youthfulness.
