Mint, cress and orange blossom offer delightful cooling accents to a nose otherwise dominated by overripe peach, pear and Persian melon. The palate is delicate, creamy and chiffon-like, with a purity of fruit that carries into the soothingly lingering yet thankfully fresh-lime-tinged and hence modestly refreshing finish. While this bottling harbors nearly a hundred grams of residual sugar, its sense of sweetness is supportive and enhances the overall impression of richness and overripeness without becoming sticky or weighing down the wine.

Very flinty and reductive on the nose with yuzu, white pepper, nutmeg and citron. The sweetness is seamless and the citrus character is so pure and mouthwatering. Incredibly long and mineral on the finish. So steely. Drink now.
The 2018 Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese offers a flinty, pure and fresh bouquet with sugared lime and grapefruit as well as flinty aromas. On the palate, this is a very stimulating and even racy Auslese whose residual sugar is well-contained by minerals and acidity. This is a tight and firm Riesling that develops a long, intense, lingering and salty finish. Still pretty sweet but crystalline, clear and precise. Tasted in June 2019.
