I tasted the dry 2013 (Forster) Ungeheuer GG 10 months ago at the Grosses Gewächs tasting in Wiesbaden (at this time the wine was still named Ungeheuer GG) where I scored it 92+ points. The wine has developed since then but is still young on the nose as on the palate. Grapefruit, lemon and potted ginger flavors on the pure but intense and deep nose already indicate the youth of this Grand Cru whose purity, vibrancy and firmness on the elegant and persistent palate is really remarkable. The finish is long and reveals a great aging potential.

Bright aromas of white peach, acacia blossom and citrus fruits, with a twist of lemon oil. A vibrant apricot pit flavor and almost chalky acidity provide this wine with excellent drive. In spite of its austerity, this dry Riesling has understated depth and excellent length. A sleeper with fine potential: I may be slightly underrating this Ungeheuer.
