Note di degustazione
Zesty lime and grapefruit on the nose anticipate the invigorating pungency and piquancy and the generous, animatingly bright juiciness that prevail on the flatteringly silken-textured palate. There is a slight sense of looseness vis-à-vis more typical vintages of this wine, but that has its own appeal in terms of generosity and come-hither textural appeal. Smoky and stony inflections are present on the nose as well, but crescendo on the refreshingly sustained finish.

The 2018 Nierstein Hipping Riesling "GG" is very clear, pure, precise and flinty on the nose. Rich and round on the palate, this is a refined and salty-mineral dry Riesling with good concentration and remarkable finesse. The finish is pure and salty and reveals fine mineral and tannin grip. Quite coolish for 2018. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
The nose here is heaped with cloves, dried nutmeg, chamomile and dried daffodils. For all its floral and herbal intensity, the palate is quite tightly wound with cutting acidity and lots of citrusy flavors. Yet, it remains a deep, full-bodied riesling. Drink now.
The olfactory perception is animated by a refreshing fragrance of green mint, a subtle chalky scent lends a delicate mineral touch. Not lacking in fruit, but herbal elements drive the palate, the salivary glands are stimulated by the taste of crunchy sorrel. A Grosses Gewächs with excellent structure. (MS)
