Very pale gold. Flinty and stony, with only a touch of reduction; some stone-fruit tones to citrus fruit beneath. Racy acidity cuts straight through any sugar, leaving an impression almost of dryness on the smoky, slaty, long finish. Classy. (TJ)

The 2016 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese (AP #10) is one of three Spätlesen that werew selected in 2016. The wine has a very clear and smoky bouquet of perfectly ripe, healthy Riesling berries and yellow-fleshed stone fruits. Round, lush and piquant, this is a very elegant and stimulating Spätlese with lingering, mouthwatering salinity. The wine is complex but not all too intellectual. It has a ripe but coolish-elegant character with a long, well-structured finish.
Golden Delicious apple and honeydew melon draped in hyacinth make for an imposingly ripe nose and a luscious, perfumed, seductively silken-textured palate. A cooling hint of wintergreen and a gentle nip of apple skin add appeal to a soothingly and refreshingly lingering finish.
A moment of total clarity that will stay with you as long as you live (assuming you like it). Sleek as a marathon runner with a breathtaking herbal-mineral freshness at the finish. Has decades of potential ahead of it.
