Magnum. Lovely salty-bread aromas, like focaccia with those big sea-salt crystals. Beautiful baked-apple fruit, full body, creamy texture with a lovely smokiness – is that the Pinot element? The fruit is so alluring on the palate. A real wine to savour. Complex and lengthy, with all the classic hallmarks of vintage champagne. (RH)
Magnum. Low-yielding vintage but considerable maturity thanks to a warm summer. Great refreshment and balance. Complete. Young but not austere. (The Blanc de Blancs is even better.) (JR)
60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. Seven years on lees. Pale mid gold, with a fine bead. Caramel, brioche and subtle hazelnut notes, over fine, bright citrus fruit. Classic vintage-champagne style, with lovely, even, steady maturation. Fine mousse, crisp and elegant texture, with beautifully integrated, toasted brioche, cream and citrus finish. Lovely length.
