(7.8 g/l r.s.): Full yellow. High-toned (botrytis-influenced?) aromas of lemon, mandarin orange, apple, honey and wild herbs. Sweet, densely packed and quite suave, with superconcentrated, rather exotic fruit flavors framed by excellent acidity and lifted by a limey quality. Nicely rising, fresh finish. Serve this with foie gras.

100% Chenin Blanc. RS 7.3 g/l. TA 6.4 g/l. Vines planted in 1978. Cool and with some sweetness – very, very different structure to most. More Loire-like and cooler than the SA norm. The impression is more middle-Loire lightness. Pure middle-Loire flavours. Tangy. (JR)
The 2013 Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc comes from the oldest vines planted in 1978 and is barrel fermented in 400-liter French oak. The nose is soft and creamy with touches of guava and candied pineapple; almond notes develop soon after. The palate is smooth and rounded with overt tropical tones, although it is just missing a little tension and complexity toward the finish.
100% Chenin Blanc. Restrained nose but wonderfully honeyed on the palate – there is a little residual sugar. Lovely Chenin personality – citrus, wool wax. (RH)

Based in the Overberg, the Beaumont family has been quietly making exceptional wines for over two decades. The family first took over the farm in 1974, but it is under Sebastian Beaumont that the estate’s reputation has really soared, with particular recognition for its Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc.
