Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2019-2024, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2019

Deep purplish crimson. Super-fruity and racy. No sweetness. Good freshness though with a bit of a kick on the end. Definite acidity dominates the finish. Super-pure. Lots of winemaker intention here even if the drinker may be looking for a little more comfort. (JR)

The aromatic expression of the 2017 Concreto Malbec is completely different from the 2016. This is a lot more open, floral and gentle, with a more polished and sleek palate with more integrated acidity. A wine of tremendous energy, it was kept in concrete all its life (hence the name) until it was bottled. 25,000 bottles were filled in December 2018, just before the next harvest.

(from a selection of stony soils on this 42-hectare property; vinified with 100% whole clusters--vs. 30% to 70% for Zuccardi's other reds--and aged entirely in concrete): Saturated bright, dark ruby. Very pure aromas of dark fruits and flowers; great Malbec fruit without any make-up. Then plush, sweet and pristine on the palate, conveying the full ripeness of the 2017 vintage in its almost chocolatey ripeness. The wine's broad tannins reach the incisors. Finishes with lingering notes of red and black fruits and spices. This wine is done in a Burgundy bottle.
