Brilliant purple. High-pitched red/blue fruit and potpourri aromas are complicated by suggestions of exotic spices, candied violet and smoky minerals. Offers sappy, finely etched raspberry, boysenberry, mocha and spicecake flavors that gain heft with aeration while maintaining a delicate touch. Sappy, seamless and focused on the impressively long, mineral-driven finish, which is given shape by silky, harmonious tannins.

Notes of rich grilled meat, ripe cherries and light reduction introduce the 2016 Morgon Côte du Py Cuvée Passerelle 577, a medium to full-bodied, ample wine that's somewhat structurally assertive right now. I suspect it’s shut down by reduction and that more flesh will emerge with a little bottle age, as the raw materials appear to be impressive.
So much intensity and ripe sweetness that it’s almost a shock after tasting her first four wines. Strongly spiced, aniseed spiked, black-cherry bold and throwing its arms across a skirl of glorious fruit. If her first four wines were Turner paintings, this would be Frida Kahlo. Vivid, intense, defiant, arresting, and uncompromisingly beautiful. (And even more lovely on the second day.) (TC)
