Note di degustazione
The 2015 Griffon's Key Grenache was the first time Kay Brothers had bottled a premium Grenache, and it was also winemaker Duncan Kennedy's first vintage. The style has evolved over time, including less time in oak, and that oak is five- to 10-year-old French puncheons. The fruit is hand picked, basket pressed and fermented in the historic gravity fed cellar, which was built in 1895. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. The press has been in situ since 1928. The nose here leads with cocoa, raspberry seed and pomegranate; it is dark with blood plum and mulberry, but it is exotic and spice driven as well. It has a really lovely texture through the middle palate and finish. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
