Note di degustazione
Certain aldehyde/sherry note on the nose. Cheese, dried apricot, lemon rind. A little tired, for me. (RH)

Inky ruby. Powerful scents of blackberry and mulberry, with hints of smoky herbs and olive adding complexity. Plump, gently sweet dark berry and cherry compote flavors show very good depth and pick up a touch of spiciness with air. This pliant, appealingly sweet wine finishes with very good thrust, soft tannins and lingering smokiness.
More tight and reserved, the 2012 Saint Joseph la Source has serious minerality in its floral, violet and dark fruit-styled aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with a firm, yet vibrant and elegant feel, it has juicy acidity, clean aromas and flavors, and a focused finish. It will benefit from another year in the cellar and drink well through 2022 or so.
Opaque ruby. Pungent aromas of cassis, cherry pit, licorice and incense. Supple, pliant and expansive on the palate, offering smoky dark berry, cracked pepper and olive flavors complemented by notes of cola and bitter chocolate. Blends power and vivacity, showing no excess fat. Finishes smoky and slightly warm, with slowly building tannins and an echo of black pepper.
