Nearly as great as the Fleur, the 2016 Rasteau Cuvee Confiance is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Raspberry and mint notes appear on the nose, followed by a full-bodied, rich, velvety wine with a never-ending finish. Despite the incredible richness and concentration, the wine remains fresh and fragrant, lithe and agile, turning silky and lingering. It's another tremendous effort from the Romero family.

Based on Grenache (there’s some Syrah and Mourvèdre in the blend) aged in foudre, the 2016 Rasteau Cuvée Confiance offers a more elegant, medium to full-bodied style that’s going to age beautifully. Terrific notes of cedar wood, dried garrigue, and ample red and black fruits all flow to a medium to full-bodied, silky Rasteau that has building tannins and impressive depth of fruit. It has a good 10-15 years ahead of it.
70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. Candied cherry aromas, very expressive and opulent. Finely ground tannin and quite dainty on the palate despite the full-on flavour intensity. Finishes perhaps a touch more simply than expected. (RH)
