Note di degustazione
The 2016 Reserva Malbec was produced with estate vineyard grapes from Altamira and Las Compuertas. It fermented in stainless steel with selected yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months. The nose is perfumed, floral, fruit-driven, clean and ripe without excess. The juicy palate has a lot of tasty fruit, good acidity and round tannins. It's fruity and easy to drink. 800,000 bottles produced.

(13.6% alcohol; made from five very different components, macerated differently and blended only at the end, two months before the bottling): Bright ruby-red. Slightly reduced aromas of black cherry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and licorice. Tightly wound but fine-grained, showing a fairly strong herbal quality for Malbec but also more sweetness and dark fruit intensity than the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. Clearly not typical for this bottling but dense in its own way, light on its feet, and fairly long on the aftertaste, showing good pungent energy. This wine grew on me--and may well grow in the bottle too. A good example of how Malbec generally had the edge over the later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon in 2016.
