(aged in 20% new oak): Saturated medium ruby. Sexy, nuanced nose combines black cherry, black raspberry, plum, mocha, licorice, smoke and ash, plus a hint of black truffle. Boasts impressive energy in the mouth, including a lively citrus accent to the black raspberry, blackberry and violet flavors. Finishes with excellent length and a touch of austerity, with the tannins a bit firmer and drier than those of the Cayuse Impulsivo Tempranillo (Elizabeth Bourcier, who is "assistant vigneronne " at Cayuse, makes the No Girls wines). In a distinctly Old World style, finishing with hints of pepper and herbs. This serious wine suggests more extraction than the Cayuse bottlings.

Deeper ruby/purple in color, the 2014 Tempranillo la Paciencia is vinified in concrete tank, then moved to take tank for malolactic fermentation, then into 20% new French demi-muids. Charcoal, beef blood, black currants, roasted herbs and smoked meats all emerge from this rich, full-bodied, concentrated and tannic beauty that has incredibly finesse, elegance and length. It's another wine that builds with time in the glass, has ample fruit authority, and is going to keep for two decades.
