For a ripe vintage, this has a cool dimension that gives it excellent tension. This enables it to effortlessly carry the deep elderberry fruit. Ample fine tannins are married to fresh acidity. Very long, fine-grained finish with plenty of drive. Drink or hold.

The 2009 Spätburgunder Centgrafenberg GG shows a ruby-garnet color with a brighter rim. The nose is pure, fresh and spicy, almost herbal, given this very warm vintage. The fruit aromas are wild and red rather than black and intertwined with forest floor and leaf notes. Round, lush and fresh on the palate, this is a silky-textured, refined and vibrant, well-structured Pinot Noir with intense, ripe and sweet cherry fruit and red berry aromas. The tannins are fine yet palatable and intertwined with fine acidity that carries the wine into a fruit-intense, finely sweet and elegant finish. 13.5% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in October 2021.
Not cheap! Pale rose red. Lots of scent and freshness. Sweet but beguiling and delicate fruit. Complete and with an attractive dryness on the end. Sophisticated wine. (JR)
Pale to mid garnet. Gentle red-plum fruit and just a touch of spice. A step up in concentration though still in an elegantly light mode. Some drinkers would definitely find this too light and I can't help thinking it would be overwhelmed by food, though I haven't tried it. Utterly silky. (JH)
