Note di degustazione
Bottled April 2017. This comes from a selection of casks from the Solera Diógenes, located in the third row at the Bodega El Puente. All the casks selected belong to the same solera – this fact, together with the elapsed time and that the withdrawals from these casks have been small, explain why this wine is almost five years older than its predecessor, La Bota de Oloroso No 46. Its estimated average age is therefore close to 30 years. Light orangy brown. Smells very different from La Bota 78. Less walnut, more apricot and bitter orange. But it is actually scented, lifted, even in its intensity. Walnut skin and savoury too. Silky and full on the palate with more obvious fruit on the finish. Even though the finish is dry, it tastes like those serious dark marmalades with thick chunks of peel. (JH)
