Note di degustazione
The 2018 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has a feisty bouquet with a touch of boot polish infusing the dark berry fruit. Quite a bit of extraction evident here with a slightly heavier toasting of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy tannins, soft and quite plush. Certainly one of the more New World-driven Beaune Premier Crus with a plush, overtly oaky finish. Drink over the next 3-6 years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Mid crimson. Lifted, perfumed red cherries. A really subtle wine that has everything in restraint and balance. Juicy freshness and overall elegance. Easy to underestimate because it speaks softly. (JH)
The 2018 Beaune Clos de Roi 1er Cru has a well-defined dark cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet, displaying moderate complexity but bright and vivid. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity and good depth, if just missing a little length at the moment. This has less alcohol than the other cuvées, at 13 degrees, but it does not quite deliver the matière of, say, the 2016.
