Note di degustazione
Fermented in oak and bottled in September 2017 with a bit less than 12.5% alcohol, the 2016 Ohligsberger GG is a deep, pure and mineral-scented wine with clear and bright but also intense and ripe Riesling aromas intermixed with crunchy slate notes. Pure, fresh and mineral on the palate, this is a rich and powerful yet crystalline and refreshing Riesling with a tight, mineral and salty structure. The wine has grip and tension and needs some years to show its true potential. Tasted March 2018.

Wet stone, wood smoke, zesty fresh lemon and pungent, salt-tinged caper make for a highly distinctive aromatic mélange , setting the stage for an invigoratingly gripping and piquant palate performance. The feel is firm, but with greater sense of polish than exhibited by other dry wines in this collection. The finish advertises Riesling as a delivery device for mineral flavors: mouthwatering salinity, pronounced alkalinity, stony suffusion and smoldering smokiness. But there is also enough primary juiciness to refresh – albeit juiciness of a tart, sharply citric sort.
This is a very dramatic super-racy and intensely mineral wine that bowls you over, at least if you don\'t have a problem with the naturally high acidity of the Riesling grape in a cool northerly climate. Whiplash finish that\'s full of citrus, herbal and stony notes. Vintages beginning with the great 1993 demonstrate how this wine has decades of ageing potential!
