Full ruby. High-pitched red and dark berry and floral pastille scents are complicated by suggestions of smoky minerals and white pepper. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering energetic black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Shows very good clarity and power on the long, incisive, fruit-driven finish, which is framed by supple, harmonious tannins.

Deep healthy crimson. Some real savour and familiar Gigondas character here on the nose. Vibrant with a mildly salty finish. Only medium bodied. Notably dry rather than sweet. Rather demanding at the moment but admirable. Need to wait for this. (JR)
