Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2016-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2015

The Rall 2013 Red Blend is Syrah and Grenache that is 50% whole bunch, and has a deliriously "delicious" bouquet with blackberry, briary and wild hedgerow scents that captivate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, sublime balance and a gentle build towards a light black pepper-sprinkled finish, that will need a few months to contain its nascent brutishness. A prime example of where less equals more.

Punteggio 89+/100 · Da bere 2017-2024, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jun 2015

(an 85/15 blend of Syrah and Grenache, from slate and clay vineyards; the Syrah is vinified with 50% whole clusters and the Grenache from Paardeberg is made with 30%): Deep ruby-red. Blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, flint, licorice and a hint of tar on the nose. On the palate, nicely concentrated, musky dark berry flavors are a bit tightly wound and uncompromisingly dry. Conveys noteworthy energy and tactile concentration but still a bit youthfully clenched. Finishes firm and very long, with excellent energy. This still needs time to soften but I'd be tempted to try it in a year with a game dish that can buffer its tannins. The Syrah component was aged for 20 months, at which point Rall back-blended some 2014 Grenache.
