2014 Cote Rotie

Sweet blackberry and pepper on the nose with hints of violet and freshly squeezed blueberries and a dash of mint, liquorice and lavender with lovely intensity. In the background just a waft of smoke and the sweetness of bbq sauce. Wonderful perfume. On the palate the tannins are melting away nicely revealing a core of blackcurrant, black cherry, jamon Iberico, bacon fat and pepper with touches of the sweetness of Parma Violets on the finish. Good acidity makes this just so drinkable right now, with the dance between youth and early maturity going on with time in the glass. A touch of almond, chocolate, kirsch and black cherry on the finish. Very good.
