The 2017 Hunting Hill Chardonnay is so good. This is complex and composed, ultra sleek and restrained, long and undulating. This feels like it moves like the surface of a still lake, in ripples and eddies rather than the crashing, powerful waves of Maté's. I love this wine, and I love how it's looking today.

There’s a touch more gunflint on the nose here. The acidity seems a bit more pronounced and the palate a little tighter and more focused than Coddington – it’s delicious. So zesty and zingy and refreshing and supported by a nice tight hazelnut twang. Will age well and is a hugely appealing style. (AC)
From the cooler 2017 vintage, which accentuates the typical mineral character. Pale-greenish straw. A little bit of matchstick on the nose. And then some honey on the palate. Very contained and disciplined. Bone-dry end. But quite austere. (Served a little too cool.) (JR)
