Opaque ruby. Suave, oak-spiced aromas of cherry, cassis and pipe tobacco, along with a peppery quality that adds spicy lift. Smooth and appealingly sweet, offering juicy dark fruit preserve, vanilla and candied violet flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Round, even tannins shape the finish, which hangs on with strong, dark-berry-driven tenacity.

The medium to full-bodied 2016 Cornas Terres Brulees is relatively open-knit and approachable. Herbal, smoky and leathery up front, it adds plenty of plummy fruit and a ripe, velvety finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Inky ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe cherry and black currant, complicated by suggestions of smoky oak, tobacco and incense. Seamless and juicy on the palate, offering appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors that are given spine and cut by a core of gentle acidity. Rich yet energetic in style, displaying smooth tannins and very good finishing clarity and length.
