Plenty of dried-fruit character, such as apricots and mangoes, as well as some caramel. A big wine for this region with some serious concentration. The finish is creamy and bright at the same time. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Riesling Berncasteler Doctor Auslese starts super clear, fresh and coolish on the nose, with flinty notes of crushed stones and clear Riesling aromas. Silky, lush and generous on the palate, this is a very elegant, well-structured and piquant Doctor with excellent aging potential. The finish is long, piquant and salty, revealing stimulating grip and tension as well as remarkable finesse. This is a great Riesling for the next 20 to 40 years. Bottled with 8% alcohol and, 95 grams per liter of residual sugar. Tasted February 2018.
