Hugely intense nose, the kind that fills the room! A kaleidoscopic bouquet of sweet black fig, Christmas pudding, liquorice, raisin, toasted spices, salted caramel, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Lots of dark chocolate, leather and cigar box too. The texture is full, rich and mouth coating. There’s also an underlying sweetness, balanced perfectly though by the great acidity that leaves your mouth watering. As it unfurls in the glass, walnuts, dark cocoa, coffee, dried figs and honeyed apricots come to the fore - this really is the most intense experience you could ever wish for in a glass. ‘Long’ doesn’t do the finish justice. This goes on for minutes. A must have for the cellar, a special piece of history that you’ll want to share with your loved ones on a dark and stormy winter evening in front of the fire

Tastes older than the original blend for the 100, and fresher than the new blend for the 100. It is more intense than either, but somehow isn't overpowering or cloying. The acidity and sugar levels are both off the charts, yet somehow still in perfect balance. It makes no sense, yet somehow makes perfect sense. An easy 100 points. I noted that it was made from 7 different wines, all from between 1863 and 1872. Miguel didn't give us specifics, so 2 of the 7 (as an example) could be from the same year. Given the date range, I would expect at least 1 wine to be from 1863 and at least 1 wine to be from 1872.
