Brilliant violet. Vibrant cherry, mulberry and violet scents are complicated by incense, allspice and musky rhubarb flourishes. Juicy, focused and energetic on the palate, offering sappy black raspberry and floral pastille flavors that turn sweeter and spread out on the back half. Clings with impressive, mineral-driven persistence, a hint of fine-grained tannins lending discreet grip. This wine is a fabulous example of the elegance that defines this vintage.

Like Sunier's Morgon, his 2017 Fleurie had just been bottled when I tasted it last year, and it's showing much better today. A captivating bouquet mingles rose petals, violets and peonies with pretty fruit tones redolent of raspberries and cherries, introducing a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered wine, its excellent concentration and enveloping attack concealing a serious chassis of fine tannin. Lively and fragrant, it's a lovely swan song vintage for Sunier's high-altitude Fleurie holdings.
Fairly deep garnet. Much, much cleaner and fresher than the really extraordinary/weird Regnié 2016 from this producer served blind in this year's Varsity tasting match . Very fresh and perfumed with beautifully handled tannins so that the wine is already very approachable. Pure pleasure. Refined. (JR)
Beautiful cherry nose with some real subtlety. Sleek and crisp but also concentrated, delivering a long, clean finish. The gentle tannins are beautifully integrated. Lacy and elegant. Drink or hold.
