Note di degustazione
Scents of cassis, grapefruit and lime laced with thyme and wet stone anticipate the lusciously fruited, lightly zesty and coolingly green herbal palate impression. “This tastes as though it should be labeled ‘feinherb’,” remarked Heinz Welter, and I could not agree more, since 42 grams of residual sugar seem to have been on a secret, mysteriously successful mission. The superbly sustained, wafting finish is consummately refreshing, subtly saline and transparent to stony and herbal nuances. This site only gets sunshine in the morning – a rarity within Goldtröpfchen – which privileges acid retention and modest must weight.

The 2017 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett "Armes" is deep, clear and flinty on the elegant and pretty complex nose that is far less fruity (and reductive) than the 2016 Goldtröpfchen Kabinett Feinherb. Sweet and racy-piquant on the palate, this 8% alcohol Riesling is dense and compact and reveals a still young, super tensioned and promising finish. Keep this 2017 for another 5 to 10 years (at least). Tasted from AP 6 18 in May 2019.
